CHICKEN WINGS WITH WHISKEY SAUCE
CHICKEN WINGS WITH WHISKEY SAUCE
Known as Whiskey Wings in some parts, this grilled Chicken recipe is about as good as it gets when cooking over an open fire. They're great eating!
THE INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED:
- Chicken Wings – 4 lbs.
- Large mixing bowl
FOR MARINADE:
- Garlic Cloves – 4 chopped
- Soy Sauce – ½ cup
- Small Onion – 1 chopped
- Brown Sugar – ½ cup
- Hot Sauce – ½ cup
- Fresh Ginger – 2-3 Tablespoons freshly grated
- Whiskey – ½ cup
FOR DIPPING SAUCE:
- Stick Butter – ¼ pound
- Cast Iron Pot
DIRECTIONS:
GETTING READY
1. Wash and prep chicken wings.
2. Place wings in a large mixing bowl.
3. Combine marinade ingredients and add to wings in bowl.
4. Mix thoroughly making sure to coat all wings.
5. Cover bowl and let marinate for at least two hours; no more than three hours.
6. Bring grill temperature up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, with coals offset for indirect cooking.
MAKING
7. Remove wings from marinade and place wings opposite coals for indirect cooking.
8. Reserve left over marinade.
9. Put lid on grill and cook for 20 minutes.
10. Remove lid and turn wings for even cooking.
11. Cover and cook another 20-25 minutes.
12. Add left over marinade to pot with butter to make dipping sauce.
13. Place cast iron pot over coals and bring to a simmer.
14. Place wings directly over coals to sear.
15. Once desired sear is reached, remove and place on a plate.
16. Continue until all wings are seared.
17. Stir marinade and carefully taste. Add more ingredients to suit your taste.
FINALIZING
18. Carefully pour dipping sauce over wings using a large spoon or place in a bowl.
SERVING
19. Serve with carrots or celery.
